After a superior effort resulted in a no-decision on Monday, tonight's somewhat more prosaic outing in Houston nets Mussina his 260th career win, putting him in a tie for 39th place on the all-time list with Hall of Famer Ted Lyons. Mussina settled down after surrendering a three-run home run to Carlos Lee in the first inning, going six innings allowing just those three runs, walking none and striking out four, to help push the Yankees to an 8-4 win over the Astros. Though his strikeout rate is down from past years, his K-BB ratio remains impressive, as he has walked just 11 batters all year against 46 strikeouts.With the win, Mussina also moves his record to 10-4 on the season, joining Cleveland's Cliff Lee atop the AL wins leaderboard. More significantly, Mussina's tenth win extends his American League record to 17 consecutive seasons with at least 10 victories, while also giving him perhaps his best shot ever at a twenty-win season.

he got his 10th win in his 15th start tonight, he should have 18 or 19 more starts if he's healthy to try to get the other 10. I'm thinking for the first time NY might even try to resign him...
Mussina should now be at the point in his career where he just signs one-year deals. That would probably be a good investment for the Yankees, and I doubt Mussina would be much interested in going somewhere else at this point in his career.
20 wins is going to be tough. with the rainout today, he's still at 10 through half of the season (his next start will be in Yankee game #84).
Yeah, he probably lost an easy win with that rainout. Bummer.
